S.A.L.S (Salford Alliance of Learning Schools)

The Salford Alliance of Learning Schools (S.A.L.S), through lead school Moorside Community Primary School and in conjunction with the Manchester Metropolitan University and University of Manchester, are excited to have the opportunity to deliver the ‘School Direct (SD) Programme’. School Direct enables graduates to develop close links with local schools as well as receiving academic and University support whilst training to teach.

Our schools and the needs of our pupils are diverse, but we are united by a common theme: A belief that we can make a difference.

The alliance consists of 15 partner schools;

  • Moorside Community Primary School
  • River View Community Primary School
  • Alder Brook Pupil Referral Unit
  • The Deans Primary School
  • St Andrew's CE Primary School
  • St Philip's CE Primary School
  • Brentnall Community Primary School
  • Ravensfield Primary School
  • St Luke's C of E Primary School
  • Light Oaks Junior School
  • Heathfield Primary School
  • Hazel Grove Primary School
  • The Friars Primary School
  • Clarendon Road Primary School
  • Ellenbrook Primary School

The alliance covers a broad demographic within the city of Salford and beyond, and encapsulates the diverse educational needs, challenges and rewards that all teachers can expect to be presented with.

This is what we believe makes us unique, and is what provides you with the very best possible start to your teaching journey.

Working closely with Manchester Metropolitan University and University of Manchester, the Number 1 Primary Teacher Training provider in the North West, our School Direct programme will see you gain your PGCE in the very best way.

Our school alliance is made up of fifteen very different settings. We believe that diversity is a strength and that by working in a wide range of settings each with unique challenges and rewards - you as a student will get the very best possible experience to start you on your teaching journey.

That journey will be challenging, possibly the most challenging year of your career, but the support that you will have will be second to none. We believe the children in our alliance need and deserve the very best teachers. For us your training goes way beyond learning how to deliver a curriculum. It's about learning how to change people's lives.

If making a difference to the future generation is what you want to do and training within an exceptionally varied alliance is how you want to do it, then S.A.L.S could be for you.

We don’t just teach... we INSPIRE!
